Assistant Consul General Reena Gabutero-Johnson of the Philippine Consulate in Brisbane said the Filipino survivor in Sunday’s road collision in Dalby, Queensland, Australia that killed three other Filipinos has undergone surgery and is now recovering in Brisbane.
In an interview with GMA News TV’s “News to Go on Wednesday, the consul general said the patient has been confined at the intensive care unit of the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane since Tuesday.
The Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila declined to release the identities of the victims for reasons of privacy.
According to Gabutero-Johnson, the four men are contract workers at the John Holland company. According to its website, John Holland is “one of Australia’s leading and most diversified contracting, engineering and services providers.”
“The John Holland company is in contact with us,” Gabutero-Johnson said, when asked what will happen to the three fatalities.
She added that requirements such as mortuary certificates are in the process of being accomplished so that their remains can be flown to the Philippines.
